this is probably due to page expiry system that the board comes with in anticipation of spam, and that error just shows up because the captcha is one of the first things to be checked. I changed some values up so tell me if it still happens

Getting this error sometimes now. Seems to occur when posting before cooldown is up but persists until I refresh

the flood detection is really aggressive and once it gets you it puts you in time out for some mysterious amount of time, I set the "cooldown" as low as possible but you can't really see it and will just have to be careful not to post really quickly

spam detection should be completely disabled now, you shouldn't get flood or spam errors when trying to post anymore

the site has built in spam/flood prevention things that seem to be for the worse when it actually comes under load, I've tried setting them to be less aggressive before
I've considered turning off the captcha altogether if it has trouble when the site is actually under load since it's never been tested like that
